Homemade Play-Dough

Ingredients

1 cup flour

2 tsp. Cream of tar tar

1/3 cup salt

Dried powdered herbs and spices (for colour)

1 cup water

1 TBSP> oil

Make it

In a bowl combine flour, cream of tar tar, salt. If using dried herbs for colour add them here. You can play around wit the colours by adding more or mixing them together.

Add remaining ingredients and whisk together. Almost like pancake batter. Add mixture to a hot skillet. DO NOT ADD OIL!

Flip dough around on the pan like cooking a scrambled egg. Keep flipping until the dough is cooked through. About 5 minutes. It should be done when it starts sticking together and no longer sticks to the pan. You can test it by pinching a small amount in between your fingers. It should stick to itself and not your hand.

Remove from surface and let cool on a plate. Once cooled knead for a few minutes to make sure it is the right consistency.

WARNING!!!!!!

DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS PLAY WITH THE DOUGH UNTIL YOU ARE !))% CERTAIN IT HAS COOLED ALL THE WAY THROUGH!

Dough should be stored in an airtight container for 6 months. Check for any spoilage like mold or foul smelling dough before letting your kids play.

Things for play

Dough tools, spoons, bowls, cookie cutters, baking supplies, dinosaurs, figurines, etc.

Get creative. Let them mix colours (remember they might combine and make a gross colour or a nice colour like red and yellow = orange. This is how they learn. Let them explore).
